Benefits of Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is a truly ‘holistic’ therapy – it aims to bring about good health by treating the body as a whole, rather than treating a single part. The physical body, mind and spirit of the person is all taken into account.

Aromatherapy is a treatment involving the application of essential oils to help ailments, assisting the body’s own natural healing process.

The application may take different forms such as massage, steam inhalation or used in the bath.

Aromatherapy massage is performed a lot slower in order to induce total relaxation and help bring about stress relief.

Aromatherapy massage works on pressure points in order to help unblock energy channels and slowly disperse energy from pressure points, as well as helping to relieve tension from the nerve tracts down the spinal channels of the back.

Movements are applied in the direction of the lymph nodes encouraging good lymphatic circulation, this aids the removal of toxins from the body.

An essential oil is a highly concentrated, fragrant, dynamic and volatile essence extracted from a plant. Each oil has a highly complex chemistry, making is impossible to reproduce synthetically.  All essential oils have anti-bacterial properties and each oil performs several therapeutic functions, including: stimulating circulation, lowering blood pressure or reducing scar tissue or stretch marks.  Easing muscular aches and pains, arthritic and rheumatic conditions, respiratory problems, skin disorders and menstrual and digestive disorders.  Each oil has its own individual properties although many share the same ones.
